01Flat walls and ceilings, inside
Skimming over existing plaster, fresh boards or tired artex, finished flat and closed ready for decorating. Walls that hold raking light without a ripple, ceilings without a single catch.
02Through-coloured, self-cleaning
K Rend silicone thin-coat over a meshed basecoat, scraped to an even texture. The colour runs right through the coat, so it never needs painting and it sheds Island rain instead of soaking it up.
03Built for a coastal climate
Silicone thin-coat, monocouche and traditional sand-and-cement, specified for the wall in front of us. Crisp bead lines, clean reveals, and a facade that holds its colour through salt air and driving rain.
04Straight walls to skim onto
Boarding, dot-and-dab, metal-stud partitions and insulated laminates, set out square and screwed off properly. The invisible work that decides whether the finish coat can ever be flat.
05Sorting what is already there
Cracked, blown or damp-stained render cut out and made good, pebbledash floated over, and tired substrates prepared properly before anything new goes on. Fixing the cause, not just the surface.

Process
Plaster doesn't forgive haste. Our process runs at the speed of the material — every coat cured, every surface checked under raking light before the next pass.

A site visit, a proper look at the substrate, and an honest conversation about what the wall actually needs. Written quote, no obligation.

Protection down, old coatings cut back, beads and mesh set to line. Ninety percent of a good finish happens before the first coat goes on.

Render basecoat reinforced with mesh outside, or boards taped and jointed inside. Left to cure at its own pace rather than chased.

Skim trowelled flat and closed, or silicone topcoat applied and scraped to an even texture in one continuous run so there are no joins.

Beads wiped, splashes cleaned off, site left tidy. A walk round together, and aftercare advice for the finish you have got.

The K Rend has been on through two winters now and still looks like the day it went up. Rain runs straight off it.
Half a millimetre over a six-metre run. We measured because we did not believe it. Mace are written into our specs by name now.
Whole house re-skimmed over old artex and you would never know it was there. The ceilings are perfect.
On a fourteen-week programme they were the only trade that never slipped a day. Tidy, quiet, exact.
They cut out the blown render, found what was actually causing it and fixed that first. Two other firms had just skimmed over the top.

Island weather is hard on buildings. Salt air, driving rain and solid walls that need to breathe all change what a wall should be given, so we specify for the property in front of us rather than whatever is quickest to mix.
